all in a week

A few things I learned this week.

1. It's worth backing up your computer. Thoroughly. It will die at some point in time just as mine did this week. Luckily I had backed it up but I'd forgotten a few things. Amongst them, iTunes unfortunately. Apparently I can upload from the iPod so that's next week's job.

2. A weekend at the beach makes everything more bearable. Even the computer dying didn't really phase me. I would have felt differently last week.

3. Good and bad always balances itself out. I had the best bit of PR I've ever had this week in a great article about my guided meditations written by Renata Provenzano for this month's Australian Natural Health magazine. As well as that, I had three magazine & newspaper interviews and a live radio spot on radio 2GB.

4. My clients are full of wisdom. A pearl from this week: we all have 168 hours in a week, around 50 of those are for sleeping, 50 or so for work, a few more for eating, showering, commuting etc. So that leaves about 50. What will you do with yours?

5. My house is a much more beautiful place with a bunch of fresh flowers. I didn't get a chance to buy any this week and I really missed them.

6. It's fun to go out on a school night and even better if it's to see live music. We went to the Corner Hotel to see Jimmy Little on Tuesday with friends and had one of the most enjoyable nights I've had in a while.

7. I love the louvre windows, quirky little bottles with flowers, friendly service and the flourless orange cakes at my favourite local cafe Martin St Cafe & Providore. And they have the best gnocchi I've ever eaten.

8. Despite the fact that I love taking photos, I have never had my own digital camera. Chris decided it was time I did so he bought me a little 'point and shoot' Canon this week. While I've always a bit of an SLR purist and my old film camera is in perfect working order, I'm already completely taken by this little gem.

9. Planning an overseas holiday for just the two of us is probably as much fun as the holiday itself will be. In a week's time we will be in New York...and I now have my little camera to take lots of photos.

10. People constantly amaze me (in a good way). Someone who has really touched me this year with her profoundly beautiful writing and her honest account of a truly wonderful family is Renee from Circling My Head. Not only does she write in a very real way, she takes the time to respond to all of her reader's comments...even in the midst of her grief.

And yes - Renee is beautiful, I feel genuinely grateful to have met some very special people through blogging. You of course are one of them.
Safe travels.

Thanks so much for the offer kj...we are here and we love it! So much to do and so little time, maybe next time we can visit.

Jacinta and Renee - thank you for your comments.

And Anon - that is fantastic! It deserves a blog post of its own. Thanks for sharing it.
