daylesford

Chris and I went to Daylesford last weekend. It's the most beautiful place to visit in autumn...the colour is spectacular.

I had an SLR camera all to myself for two days and it was such a treat to be able to take some photographs again.

If you're thinking of going, there are a couple of places I'd recommend. Cliffy's is great for coffee or breakfast and Farmers Arms is fantastic for either lunch or dinner. We had a late lunch sitting at the bar which was great. I just love that country pub atmosphere.

On Saturday night we stumbled across Horvats, a little wine bar with live music and delicious woodfire pizzas. Friday night is jazz night and Saturday night is a mix of styles. Mostly they feature local musicians. We saw two acts - both very talented - and we spent a bit of time getting to know Gabriel, the owner and wine maker.

And finally, make sure you walk around the lake at least once while you're there and if you have time, have a mineral bath at Hepburn Spa. We slept so well afterwards.
